Soft Landing, Australia’s largest mattress recycler, has achieved ISO certification across three key operational standards of Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management and Quality Management.

Soft Landing received its ISO certifications following an independent audit by SAI Global, which shows that the not-for-profit social enterprise and registered charity has met global benchmarks for public safety, environmental protection and high-quality service delivery.

“This certification reflects the care and dedication our teams put into recycling mattresses every day,” said Soft Landing General Manager David Petrie.

“It shows that we have strong systems in place to support our people and the important work they do.

“For our council and retail partners, it provides assurance that our services are delivered to the highest professional standards – consistently, safely, and with a strong focus on compliance and continual improvement.”

Soft Landing operates across five sites in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory to collect and recycle end-of-life mattresses, bed bases, lounges and white goods.

According to Soft Landing, the social enterprise has recycled over 2.3 million mattresses and diverted over 40,000 tonnes of waste from landfill.

“Our commitment to quality service, safety and social and environmental outcomes makes us the mattress recycler of choice for councils and retailers across Australia,” Petrie said.

“This ISO certification is further proof we have the operational expertise and capacity to meet council and retailer requirements.”
